Things to Do in Cape Coral & Fort Myers in July 2026
July in Southwest Florida means one thing above all else: the Fourth of July, and Cape Coral knows how to throw a party. This month's calendar is built around Independence Day, with three different ways to celebrate, plus art walks, music walks, a fascinating history series at Edison Ford, and all your reliable summer staples. Here's your guide to the best things happening in Cape Coral and Fort Myers this July.
Fourth of July
Three ways to celebrate Independence Day
July 4th is the biggest single day on the SWFL calendar — here's how to spend it.
The largest single-day event in Southwest Florida is back, headlined by country star Chris Lane. Expect live music, food trucks, vendors, carnival rides, and one of the largest Fourth of July fireworks displays in the entire state — launched right from the Cape Coral Bridge at 9:30pm. Free to attend, with a limited VIP Boom Zone experience available ($40 adults 21+, $20 kids 5–20, under 5 free). If you have a boat, watching from the Caloosahatchee River is widely considered the best seat in the house.
Learn more →Celebrate America's 250th right on the water with prime views of the Red, White & Boom fireworks. This limited-capacity experience includes great food, refreshing drinks, live entertainment, shaded coverings with fans and cooling misters, and air-conditioned private restrooms — ideal if you want all the fireworks magic without the crowds.
Find tickets →A two-night waterfront celebration honoring America's 250th birthday at Fort Myers' beautiful riverfront amphitheater. Live music and entertainment for all ages over two nights — a great alternative if you want a more intimate setting than the Cape Coral bridge crowds.
Get tickets →Heads up: The Cape Coral Bridge and Cape Coral Pkwy from Del Prado Blvd to the bridge close at 3am on July 4th and stay closed through the event. Plan your route via the Midpoint Memorial Bridge or US-41 Caloosahatchee Bridge, and arrive early — free parking and trolleys are available in the South Cape entertainment district.

Beat the heat with a little history
An air-conditioned, educational outing for the hottest part of summer.
Each week throughout July, Edison Ford Historians present an in-depth look at a different historical topic related to the estate — from Edison's inventions to the Edison-Ford friendship and the property's legacy. Presentations are included with regular museum admission, making this a great air-conditioned way to spend a July morning while still learning something new about the area you call home.
